Antenatal Breastfeeding Workshop

This 3 hour in-person breastfeeding workshop in Wymondham, Norfolk, aims to provide realistic expectations of breastfeeding a newborn baby. Led by myself – an experienced practising community midwife and an IBCLC lactation consultant, who feels passionate about providing breastfeeding support and has supported countless new parents during their breastfeeding journeys. This is a practical session and you will have the use of a weighted newborn-sized doll and a knitted breast for the duration of the workshop.

You will learn how to recognise your baby’s feeding cues, how to position and attach the baby to the breast effectively and how to recognise that your baby is feeding well and taking in enough milk. You will be able to practise holding a newborn baby, different feeding positions, correct positioning and attachment and learn how to harvest colostrum, as well as feeding expressed breast milk or formula from a bottle. You will be able to ask as many questions as you like.

The workshop includes a short break during which you will have an opportunity to stretch your legs, chat to other expectant parents and enjoy a hot drink and biscuits. After the workshop you will receive handouts via an email.

The workshop runs on demand (once a month), please contact me for details about the upcoming dates.
